Those visiting Chicago may want to enjoy the comforts of some of the city’s largest and most luxurious hotels, while others prefer to roam the city to take in the sights.

Hotels

The largest hotel in Chicago is the Hyatt Regency Chicago with a capacity of over 2,000 guests. The second and third largest hotels are The Palmer House Hilton and Chicago Hilton and Towers with capacities of 1,639 and 1,543, respectively. The Sheraton Hotel and Towers and the Chicago Marriott Hotel round out the top five largest hotels in Chicago. Other hotels in the top 10 include the Hyatt Regency O’Hare, O’Hare Hilton, Hotel Inter-Continental, Ramada Congress, and the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place.

Conventions

Those visiting or staying in Chicago may want to check out some of the city’s largest conventions and expos that take place throughout the year. Chicago’s largest convention is the Chicago Auto Show with an attendance of approximately 1,148,000 people. The second and third largest Chicago conventions are Cinco De Mayo and the Black Expo which have attendances of 150,000 and 130,000. The International Manufacturing Technology Show and World of Wheels are number four and five on the list of Chicago’s largest conventions with attendances of 114, 675 and 106,893 respectively. These conventions can take place in some of the city’s largest exhibition halls and convention centers such as McCormick Place, the Orange County Convention Center, or the Las Vegas Convention Center, all of which measure over 1.95 million square feet.

Parks and Recreation

Travelers to Chicago can enjoy some of the many recreational activities provided by the over 500 area parks. These parks offer many activities that can be enjoyed by adults as well as children. There are 791 baseball diamonds and 975 basketball courts that allow people of all ages a chance to play. There are 33 swimming and beach areas as well as 180 gymnasiums that allow tourists to work out and cool off at the same time. There are 90 swimming pools and 704 tennis courts also present in the Chicago parks system that allow for physical activity and game playing. If physical activity gets tiring, tourists can visit one of the two zoos and check out the exotic animals.
